I’m excited to let you all know that filming has started for my new show ”Confessions of a Beauty Addict”. Think Tried and Tested on your telly box! It will be aired on our local channel Made in Tyne and Wear and ill be sure to let you know when. I don’t want to give too much away but one of my highlights this week was meeting Neville Ramsay, stylist to the celebrities. He is a great, funny guy and made filming a breeze. We caught up discussing what looks are going to be big this summer (so tune in for that!) and I was also lucky enough to get my hair done by the lovely Denise, educator for Milkshake and Neville himself. Denise gave me a semi colour cocktail, as you can see in the pictures it looks good enough to eat! I went for a lovely purple colour to give me a hint of violet on my dark hair. The colour is conditioning and does not damage the hair at all. The smell was out of this world, ice cream is how I would describe it. Neville then gave me a softening sweeping fringe, a little trim and a BIG bouncy blow-dry to fit in with the ”on trend” look. I was over the moon with end the result. My hair colour is amazing, so much so that I want it permanent lol, the condition feels much better and the fringe updated my look. I’ve had lots of compliments so I would like to thank Denise and Neville for inviting me and the cameras along.
If you would like to try some milkshake products or would love to treat yourself to a hair pamper by Mr Ramsay himself call A-List Salon located in Sunderland on 0191 5109988 to make an appointment.
Hail Clarins for these skin boosters!. Have you ever felt your skin needed a boost? Is your skin dull, fatigued and lacks radiance? – you need energy boost. Is your skin weakened by certain lifestyle or environmental factors, red, dry and uncomfortable? – you need repair boost. Is your skin congested, effected by pollution or overindulging? – you need detox boost. How amazing that you can use your normal moisturiser but just add these wonder drops to give you the boost you need. I have all 3 and use them accordingly when my skin needs that that extra boost. I work long hours managing a practice, blogging and filming and it all takes its toll on my skin. Depending on my needs I just reach for these drops and add them to my evening and morning moisturiser and they are a life saver! What you waiting for? get yourself to the Clarins counter and give your skin a boost!!
”Wake me up before you go go”!!! This Clarins body balm is invigorating and uplifting. This is my favorite scent out of the Clarins range, so much so that all my Clarins body products are ordered in this same scent to layer the fragrance. I even have the perfume!!!. Certain essential oils can either help you sleep or help you wake up and this for me is a perfect morning balm to liven the senses and help you wake. Smooth on after Tonic Bath & Shower Concentrate and your skin is left soft, toned and smelling delicious.
”Change your tone! This refreshing body balm treatment—with a firming blend of Ginseng and Apple Seed Oil—soothes dryness, improves vitality and promotes the appearance of toned, supple-looking skin. This soft body balm refreshes the senses with the aromatic essences of Geranium, Rosewood, Mint and Rosemary and the non-oily texture delivers a satin-fresh finish. Smooth on after Tonic Bath & Shower Concentrate and Tonic Body Treatment Oil for a professional, at-home spa treat.”
WOW, this morning I used this Decleor 1000 Grain Body Scrub and it was amazing!! Not all products make it on to the Tried and Tested Blog, only the best and this is another firm favorite of mine. It has the strangest consistency of a gel exfoliator that melts into an oil and then turns into a milk and even though it is ”1000 grain”, was not abrasive at all. Decleor seem to have a knack of making me mesmerised with their consistency, feel and texture of their products. It has the most up lifting fragrance within the essential oils that had me energised and ready for the day ahead. Shaving after rinsing this exfoliator was a dream. Not sure if it was the oil, but the hubby’s razor (shhhh) just glided and I was left with a real smooth close shave. My skin felt and smelt amazing and was prepped and ready to lather in another amazing product …review to follow.
”This indulgent scrub helps provide skin a velvety-smooth finish, as if transformed. Enriched with Grapefruit Essential Oil, which gives it a sparkling, invigorating fragrance, and a combination of Pearl Sugar, Argan Shell and Orange Peel with Fruit Acids (Grape, Pineapple and Passion Fruit). Our innovative gel turns into an oil during massage for easy application, and then turns into a milk upon contact with water for quick rinsing. Skin is left feeling softer, smoother and refined.”
I am still buzzing with excitement writing this Blog post! Where do I start? My day went from a nightmare to the best day EVER!!!!
So a little while ago I entered a competition associated with Capital FM and Handbag Clinic. I think I saw it on twitter scrolling through as you do and the bag really caught my eye!!! The competition was
”50 lucky competition finalists will be selected at random and invited to a VIP evening with Scarlett Moffat at AVIEKA on the 12th of May, hosted by Handbag Clinic, on Newcastle’s gorgeous Quayside with a friend. Two guests will then be drawn from the 50 finalists to take to the main stage with Scarlett on the night, and battle it out for a reconditioned Mulberry Bayswater Double Zip Tote in a vibrant red colourway worth £1,600!”
So yesterday, the day of the VIP night, I got a call to say ”sorry its short notice but some people have dropped out the VIP night so you have been selected as a reserve”. Well I’ll be honest, I forgot I had even entered the competition and it really was short notice! Could I pull this off? . My son had a big football match that evening and my husband was at work. I also had my younger son to find childcare for. I got the older son sorted for football ( he played a blinder by the way and won man of the match for the last game of the season) and my younger son was looked after by a NEW babysitter, as I just couldn’t find anyone and at one point I really thought that I was not going to be able to attend (babysitter was ace by the way) . I called up my friend Lucy who manged to get the night of work at such short notice (that never happens) and everything started to fall into place strangely!!!!.
So it was a quick turn around and Lucy arranged to pick me up at 5.30pm, however I’ve lost my bank card, cant find it anywhere. Frantically searching the house but no luck so I had to ring and cancel my card…bummer!
Myself and Lucy got to the Quayside and had a spot of tea as neither of us had time to eat but we wished we had saved ourselves because the food at the event looked incredible!!!
We got to the event and it looked amazing! A HUGE pink handbag was outside, red carpet and full of beautiful glamorous ladies! Lucy and I joked as we felt so under dressed coming straight from work in a mad dash to attend.
As we went in we were checked off the guest list and given a glass of sparkle. We had a walk though the amazing venue with the most amazing chandelier, and the lovely Scarlett Moffat from Google box caught my eye. She was waving and smiling so we went over to see her and had some pictures taken. Anyway, as it happens Scarlet and her mam love the show I do ”Chatty Lasses” and watch it frequently so that had already made my night, me being a huge fan of Google box.
There was a great fashion show with Handbag Clinic and Novo London, they also had pop-up shops in the venue.
Now it was time for the handbag competition. I had no expectation of being picked out of 50 girls. Names were all put in a ”hat”, although it wasn’t a hat, much posher. Scarlett dived in to chose 2 lucky ladies to go head to head.
My name got called and I was literally shaking, I was so shocked and boy, did I want that bag so bad! I went up on the stage with my opponent who was cool as a cucumber, I on the other hand was a quivering wreck. It was time for the question where the closest answer wins! On walked the models with 3 designer handbags with a combined total of over £3000 (cant remember the exact figure as I was so nervous). We had to guess what these bags would cost from the handbag clinic and the closest match won. I was around £115 out but was the closest match and WON!!! I was screaming, jumping up and down, literally could not believe it. After all the organising it took to get there, missing my big lads football match and the loss of my bank card this just made everything so worth while.
I would like to thank Capital Radio, Handbag Clinic and Scarlett for an AMAZING night and for my beautiful new handbag which I absolutely love. You guys pulled off a blinder of an evening at AVEIKA, everything was so well organised and just a perfect evening! You have made a Consett lass very very happy and now I’m off to buy some new red SHOES!!!!
Where do I start?. When I was introduced to this NEW moisturiser I was skeptical to say the least. A moisturiser that is the consistency of water…naaaa!!!! We all know the brand Decleor and we know they are a firm favorite in the skincare and spa industry but I wasn’t convinced with this new product. Now we all know I suffer from oily skin so I have to make sure skincare matches my skin type as anything too heavy just melts off and I end up looking like a wax work literally so sometimes I even avoid moisturiser when applying my foundation for a night out!!!. I never suffer from acne but I do suffer from open pores. The first time I picked this up to try I nearly used it as a micellar water and had to remind myself that is is actually a moisturiser. I shook out a few drops on the palms of my hands, rubbed them together and patted into my face. Instantly on my hands you could feel this was not water. It was silky and light and smelt amazing as all Decleor products do. My skin drank it up with no residue left so my make up went on beautifully. My skin felt hydrated but without the moisturiser after feel but with a luminous glow. A big hit with Mrs T&T.
”Pollution and emotional stress can accentuate skin dehydration. Combining the freshness of a cosmetic water with the hydration power of a cream, this active lotion offers skin continuous hydration. Enriched with Moringa Olifeira extract providing protection against pollution particles, it reveals a beautiful skin texture. Skin feels plumped, with dehydration lines appearing smoothed. Skin glows and feels fresh.
Apply 2-3 drops into your hands (no cotton pad needed) and massage into a cleansed face and neck.Use as either a moisturiser after the Aromessence or as a moisture booster for your usual cream by using this beforehand.”
I was invited along to the Longlox launch in Gateshead. Longlox is a new salon located opposite the Marriot hotel near the Metro Centre. No expense was spared for this launch. There were cupcakes, sparkle, makeovers, photo booths, goodie bags, media attention and celebrity appearances from Scotty T and Chantelle from good old Geordie Shore. There was a swarm of women. I kid you not, the queue was massive, full of glam women wanting a glimpse of this gorgeous new hair extension specialist salon. I was lucky enough to get in before the crowds to grab a few snaps of this impressive haven for beauty. I was greeted by two stunning girls who handed me a very generous goodie bag and I was left to have a mooch about with my sidekick Harley (my son). The first thing I noticed was all the immaculately turned out staff! I had proper hair envy, they all looked gorgeous. Then I spotted the cake, WOW, just wished I remembered to grab a cupcake as Harley said they were amazing. Harley also got a bag of sweets which was cute and kept him happy. It was very child friendly and they have a great kiddie area to entertain the little ones while you get pampered. I managed to get my eye make up done at the HD stand which was handy as I was going out that evening. We had some fun in the photo booth with Scotty and my friend Fran, I watched some demos and had a braid put in my hair. Longlox is a one stop shop for all you beauty needs but they specialise in hair extensions and offer every system going with a budget to suit. This was a well organised, great launch and I wish SammyJo every success. Please visit their website to find out more here.
